Today, artificial intelligence has opened new frontiers in the creation of artistic images from textual descriptions. The notion of a "speculative herbarium," presented in this work, represents a creative and multifaceted response to the tradition of herbaria. Its main objective is to highlight the profound importance of plants in our lives and human culture, providing a means to establish emotional connections between people and nature.

We enter the realm of conjecture by imagining that a herbarium sheet can contain the thoughts of the person at the precise moment of collecting the plant, expressing the connection and awe experienced, thus expanding the uses of the herbarium toward personal expression. The Speculative Herbarium creation project harnesses the power of generative intelligent algorithms, capable of generating images from textual descriptions of thoughts experienced while picking a flower, to create images of these flowers. These images complement the herbarium, proposing dialogues that interrelate nature and creativity, emphasizing the importance of plants in our lives. AI-generated images can be an effective way to inspire others to connect more deeply with nature.

Although science and technology tend to focus on objectivity, reducing the influence of personal feelings in research, this does not mean that complex issues are completely devoid of emotional or subjective aspects. Similarly, art and the humanities value subjectivity, but they can also benefit from incorporating objective elements into their processes. A dynamic relationship between these fields will surely contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the world around us.
